23-year-old Bangladeshi national held by Border Security Force for ‘trespass’ in Jalpaiguri

Some Indian and Bangladeshi currencies were recovered from Byzidul Islam, who inquiries revealed was from Mymensingh district of the neighbouring country

A 23-year-old Bangladeshi national was nabbed by troops of the 15th battalion of the BSF posted at Mahadev border outpost in Jalpaiguri district on Tuesday night while he was allegedly illegally trying to enter Bangladesh from India.

Some Indian and Bangladeshi currencies were recovered from Byzidul Islam, who inquiries revealed was from Mymensingh district of the neighbouring country.

In another incident, the special operations team of 93rd battalion of the BSF intercepted Ramzan Ali, a resident of Natunbasti village in Jalpaiguri district on Tuesday afternoon. He was involved in human trafficking, BSF sources said. Some Indian and Nepalese currencies, along with a cell phone, were recovered from him.

Both have been handed over to Kotwali police station.

The BSF also conducted anti-smuggling drives on Tuesday and Wednesday and seized contraband items worth Rs 71,000. Those items were supposed to be smuggled to Bangladesh.
