Apple has announced that its annual developer conference, Worldwide Developers Conference 2026, will take place from June 8 to 12, with the company expected to unveil the next generation of software updates and new artificial intelligence (under the Apple Intelligence bouquet) features across its platforms.
The conference will begin with Apple’s keynote presentation on June 8 at 10am PDT (10.30pm IST), where the company is likely to preview updates coming to iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and other devices. Apple said the event will also introduce new developer tools, APIs and AI-related advancements.
Shortly after the keynote, Apple will host its annual Platforms State of the Union session, aimed primarily at developers. The presentation will offer a more technical look at the new features and technologies powering Apple’s software ecosystem.
This year’s conference will once again follow a hybrid format. While most sessions will be available online through the Apple Developer app, website and YouTube channel, more than 1,000 developers, designers and students will attend an in-person gathering at Apple Park in Cupertino on the opening day.
Across the five-day event, Apple plans to host more than 100 video sessions covering app development, design, graphics, gaming, machine learning and developer tools. Developers will also be able to participate in online Group Labs hosted by Apple engineers and designers, where they can ask questions and discuss technical topics.
Artificial intelligence is expected to be one of the major themes at WWDC26. Apple specifically mentioned sessions related to Apple Intelligence, its AI initiatives.
Apple will also highlight this year’s Apple Design Awards finalists. The awards recognise apps and games across categories such as innovation, inclusivity, interaction and social impact. Winners are expected to be announced during the conference week.
The company additionally acknowledged the Swift Student Challenge, its annual programme for young developers. Apple said 350 students were selected as winners this year, including 50 Distinguished Winners who have been invited to Cupertino for a three-day experience during WWDC week.
