Norton Motorcycles, which is owned by TVS Motor Company, one India’s leading two- and three-wheeler makers, is likely to be introduced in India in mid-2026. The models likely to come in are the Manx, Manx R, Atlas and Atlas GT, which were revealed at EICMA 2025, the biggest two-wheeler show in the world being held at Milan. The four models are powered by petrol engines. Two more models are in development and will be out next year.

The Manx, which has been designed for road use, and the Manx R superbike with which it shares the underpinnings, will be the halo products. These two are big, performance bikes with 1,200cc four-cylinder ‘V’ engines (V4) producing 205hp and 130Nm. While that sounds quite impressive, actual performance figures have not been announced. The two revive a hallowed name from Norton. Being what they will be, they are expected to come in at the high end of the market.

Then there are the Atlas and the Atlas GT touring motorcyles. These will be available with 585cc, parallel twin engines that are expected to ride into a category that is seeing growing interest in recent times.

Norton’s arrival in India was expected for a while (see Retro Rockers, June 29, 2025) since TVS Motor bought the then ailing British company in 2020 for about £16 million. Over the last five years, TVS Motor has invested £250 million in reviving the brand built on 127 years of history, innovation and racing. Finally, the company has unveiled its new product range this week and announced that the India debut will follow the introduction of the Manx and Atlas ranges in Europe in the first half of 2026.

While the Manx range of bikes will be made in Solihull in the UK, the Atlas range will be made in India at TVS’s Hosur factory.

Heritage British motorcycle brands like Royal Enfield and BSA are already in the market and Norton will be joining the fray soon, while Bajaj Auto is still to reveal its plans for the Vincent marque.
