Planning a holiday is never easy, especially when it comes to booking flights. Google’s new set of AI features aims to create an entire holiday plan for you, including finding flight deals and even booking dinner reservations.

The company has also announced a global expansion of Flight Deals, an “AI-powered search tool we’re testing within Google Flights” that recently launched in the US, Canada and India. “It’s designed for flexible travellers who want to quickly find affordable destinations and save money on their next trip.”

When planning a holiday, you can use Canvas, a tool in AI Mode that gives you “a space” to organise plans and projects over time. Canvas can be used to create travel plans tailored to your needs. Simply tell AI Mode what type of trip you’re planning and the recommendations you’re looking for, then select the option to Create Canvas.

You’ll then be shown a plan in the Canvas side panel that brings together real-time Search data for flights and hotels, details from Google Maps, such as photos and reviews, and relevant information from sites across the web. There will even be suggestions that match your criteria, such as hotel comparisons based on pricing and amenities, or ideas for restaurants and activities optimised according to travel time from where you’re staying.

You can take it a step further: Ask follow-up questions and get help weighing trade-offs, like choosing a hotel that’s closer to brunch spots but slightly farther from, say, hiking trails.

The expansion of Flight Deals will benefit many travellers. Simply mention where, when and how you’d like to travel, and Flight Deals will use AI to show you the best bargains available. The feature has begun rolling out to more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

Google is also bringing AI Mode’s agentic capabilities to more users. It will make life easier when booking restaurant reservations, event tickets, or beauty and wellness appointments. Just describe what you need — along with your preferences — and AI Mode will search across multiple reservation platforms and websites to find real-time availability that fits your criteria. On that note, agentic restaurant booking is rolling out this week on AI Mode in the US.
