Calcutta, Dec. 19: Calcutta High Court today appointed a special officer to take custody of the assets of Haldia Bulk Terminals at Haldia port till Calcutta Port Trust’s compensation claim is settled.

The order means HBT will not be able to sell the equipment till CPT’s compensation claim is cleared. The court had earlier allowed HBT to take away its six cranes and other equipment from the two berths it used to operate at Haldia port.

HBT CEO Gurpreet Malhi said the company had sold some dumpers to cut losses.
