Zones demarcated to distribute food during lunch time to those facing problems in the lockdown

The East Singhbhum district administration on Tuesday divided the steel city into 13 zones and allocated a senior officer for each zone to supervise arrangement of food for the needy.

The 13 zones are Sonari, Sitaramdera, Baridih, Bagunhatu, Kadma, Sakchi, Bistupur, Bhuiyandih, Birsanagar- A and Birsanagar – B, Telco and Golmuri.

“Each zone will be manned by a team of administrative staff and these teams will be manned by magistrate-rank officials,” deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla said.

“They will be coordinating with special officer rationing (SOR, Navin Kumar) and Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) special officer Krishna Kumar for distributing food during lunch time to those facing problems in the lockdown.”

This would be in addition to the arrangements of food twice a day (afternoon and evening) at community kitchens operational at all 35 police stations across district and CM Canteen Yojana Vans at Sakchi, Mango and Sonari and meals on wheels for the disabled and elderly.

Warning to landlords

DC Shukla also issued a circular that landlords cannot harass tenants for rent during the period of lockdown.

“We have been receiving complaints from families that their family heads are stuck in other districts and other states due to the lockdown and the house owners are asking them to vacate houses for inability to pay rent.

“Through this order the house owners are warned against doing so or else vide Union home ministry order under National Disaster Management Act they may face one year imprisonment or fine,” the DC said.
