Chief minister Raghubar Das is imaginative, impulsive, creative, dislikes wasting time and likes to meet new people. At the same time, he likes to choose his people and projects carefully.

Doing a double-take? All these deeply personal characteristics of the chief minister came to the fore when a second-year BSc forensics student Shabina Kumari analysed his handwriting at the second foundation day of Jharkhand Raksha Shakti University on its temporary Skipa campus at Mears Road, Morabadi.

Students had set up various stalls on campus to tell visitors about their courses in the field of policing, intelligence gathering, cyber crime combat, forensics and other courses related to internal security. At the forensics stall, where the chief minister went, Shabina explained that one of the things they learnt for crime detection was analysing handwriting to get insights into someone’s personality. “I will be happy to analyse your personality,” she told the chief minister.

As the chief minister signed his name, Shabina and her classmate Ankita analysed his personality.

“Sir you are imaginative, impulsive and creative. You are very selective (you make choices carefully). You want to meet new people and want to work with them. You dislike wasting time,” Shabina said as the chief minister laughed.

Later when this reporter asked Shabina if she missed anything during Das’s analysis, she said, “His handwriting suggests he is too extroverted. But I didn’t dare tell him this.”

Fun part over, Shabina said handwriting analysis helped crime detection. “Murderers may write fake suicide notes copying the handwriting of their victims. Handwriting analysis detects the fraud. Also, it helps identify forgeries,” Shabina said.

Das in his speech expressed satisfaction with the knowledge and training given to students. “The university was set up (in 2016) for skilled manpower to face the challenges of the country, especially in a digital era. I am happy to see the university progressing in the direction it was intended for,” he said.

He said he was mulling to turn the wireless cadre of state police to IT cadre to check cyber crime for which Jharkhand’s Jamtara has been hogging the limelight.

Among those present were director-general of Raksha Shakti University, Ahmedabad, Vikas Sahay; governing body members of Jharkhand Raksha Shakti University such its own VC Ajoy Kumar Singh, VC of Jharkhand Technical University Gopal Pathak, VC of NUSRL Gautam Choudhary, VC of Ranchi University Ramesh Kumar Pandey, Rajmahal MLA Anant Ojha and Chhatarpur MLA Radha Krishna Kishore.

Sahay in his address agreed with Das saying the Jharkhand university had prospered a lot in two years. “The way Jharkhand Raksha Shakti University has performed in two years is praiseworthy,” Sahay said, underlining the need for skilled and trained manpower for policing in the present scenario. Sahay added the Centre was also mulling on a national police varsity.
