The municipal board of Hazaribagh on Thursday announced that the town would soon have a bus service of its own.

The board, led by special officer Rachna Bhagat and acting chairman Manish Jaiswal, said the bus service would be initially started on a 2km route — between Indrapuri Chowk and Korrah — by next month. If the response is good, then they might start the services on a second yet-to-be-decided route later.

Speaking to The Telegraph on Friday, Jaiswal said they were looking to buy a 32-seater private company bus to flag off the services the details of which, like fares, driver remuneration, et al, were yet to be worked out.

“We have enough funds and have invited tenders for the purchase of the bus. Once the bus is purchased, we will work out the other details,” he said, adding that the service would definitely come as a boon for the residents.

The municipal board members, after the meeting, also decided to launch a cleanliness campaign in the city before the Diwali and Chhath festival.
