Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, often in the news over some statements or over differences with his younger brother, is once again making some noise, this time literally.
It isn't over some political statement of his, but over his latest buy - a brand new Royal Enfield Continental GT 535CC motorbike - costing Rs 2.25 lakh. The red-coloured bike only recently made an entry into his 10 Circular Road residence.
Tej Pratap loves bikes and cars. His already owns a Honda CBR 1000RR bike costing Rs 15.4 lakh and a BMW car costing Rs 29.4 lakh. He loves to zoom around in the car, while the bike hits the roads early in the morning.
"The new bike arrived just a few days back," said a source in the family. "Tej Pratap ji has been riding it inside the premises so far. A proper puja was performed before the bike entered 10 Circular Road and it has become the new attraction for the family and bungalow staff. But so far, he is yet to hit the road with it. He is waiting for the right opportunity. He is fond of bikes and the car. He personally visited showrooms to see the bike after he heard about it from a friend."
Tej Pratap's love for wheels is no secret. Apart from his expensive cars and bikes, he has been seen trying his hand at e-rickshaws, tongas, three wheeler rickshaws and even tractors. There were some tense moments recently when he fell off a bicycle.
He also has a traditional bicycle that is used by people of the milkman community. The bicycle made news earlier this year when a picture of him riding it with his newly-wedded wife Aishwarya Rai on it went viral.
His latest posession, the Enfield bike, is available in only three colours - red, black and green. A newer model, Royal Enfield Continental GT 650CC, is to be launched soon.
Royal Enfield is among the oldest global motorcycle brands, being manufactured in Chennai. There are three dealers of Royal Enfield bike in Patna, namely Siddhi Vinayak Automobile (Saguna Mor), Sukhmani Motors (Zero Mile) and Ambey Motors (Patliputra).
Eight more dealers exist in Chhapra, Ara, Biharsharif, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Nawada, Gaya and Darbhanga.
Family sources said Tej Pratap purchased the bike from Ambey Motors after making a full payment. The bike can cruise to 142kmph while the upcoming 650 CC model can touch 241kmph.
The Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 was first unveiled at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo.
It was launched in the global markets in the middle of 2013.
The Continental GT is considered the fastest and lightest single-seater bike from the Royal Enfield and is being rolled out from the company's new facility at Oragadam near Chennai.
