Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s appeal over Covid-19 pandemic
Sport is the least priority at a time when India fights against the Covid-19 pandemic which has brought life to a standstill, feel India cricket captain and vice-captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Rohit, who has been out of action for the last two months due to a calf muscle injury, was due for a comeback in the cash-rich Indian Premier League, which has been suspended till April 15, but stands a good chance of getting cancelled if the prevailing situation continues.
“We should first think about the country. The situation needs to get better first then we can talk about the IPL. Let life get back to normal first,” Rohit said.
Kohli requested people to stay at home during this crisis. “What I have seen in the last few days — people moving in groups, not abiding by curfew rules, not following lockdown guidelines...,”Kohli said in a video.
“I wish to request everyone to please maintain social distancing and follow it. Also, we should stay indoors.”
