Calcutta: Former national champion Poulami Ghatak won her matches against Runa Roy and Mouma Das to lead South Calcutta to a 3-1 victory against the East in the National Insurance state and inter-district table tennis tournament at the Khudiram Anushilan Kendra on Monday.

After beating Runa Roy in the first match of the final, she edged out arch-rival Mouma Das in the decider in an enthralling five-game battle. It was a topsy-turvy affair right from the word go with Mouma going 2-1 up. But Poulami rallied brilliantly in the last two games to win the match 11-9, 7-11, 7-11, 11-7, 12-10.

On the other hand, Sourav Chakrabory of East Calcutta won both of his matches against Shibaji Dutta and Arjun Dutta of South Calcutta to take his team to 3-1 victory in the men’s final.
