Chandigarh: Brendon McCullum smashed a 39-ball 67 as Otago Volts beat Sunrisers Hyderabad comfortably by five wickets with 22 balls to spare, at the PCA Stadium, in Mohali, on Friday. The New Zealand side finish the Champions League T20 qualifiers having won all three of their matches.

The following are excerpts

Brendon McCullum: We rested a couple of bowlers. So we had to be tactically smarter. That’s why we started with Nathan. We are very happy with the way the boys performed. That’s the kind of cricket we want to play. We are playing really well right now.

Shikhar Dhawan: We lost the game, but tried a few things. That’s what we were trying to do… Just wanted to try out a few things. In the knock-out stages, all our batsmen have had hits. Even (JP) Duminy came up with the good work, which is certainly a bonus for us.

Our confidence is still high. This was a match where we would have batted first anyhow. We wanted to try a few things and analyse what went wrong and what went right.

Nathan McCullum (MoM): It is nice to contribute for the team. It was a good challenge to bowl first up with just two fielders at the outfield. I enjoyed the challenge.
