Calcutta: On the field, Mohun Bagan’s Ivory Coast forward Stephen Kamo and Liberian midfielder Ansumana Kromah team up to torment the rival defenders.

And now, off the field, the African duo will add spice to the Durga Puja fervour. In a first, they will be recording the theme song of Ganguly Bagan’s Rabindra Pally Sarbojanin Durgostav next week.

The theme of Rabindra Pally’s Durga Puja is Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve and the organisers came up with the idea of recording the theme song with Kamo and Kromah. The song is composed and lyrics penned by a Bangla band Jowar.

“The organisers asked us if we can sing a song for the Durga Puja. The idea excited both of us and we did not think twice before saying yes to the project,” Kamo said at the Calcutta Referees’ Association tent on Saturday morning.

“If you are in India then you should embrace its culture. And this something I will be doing for the first time,” Kamo added
Kromah, who is a big fan of Shah Rukh Khan and Arijit Singh, said back home Saturdays still mean screening of Indian films. “I just love Indian films.”

Kromah added that he was proud to be associated with this project. “Durga Puja is the biggest festival. I am proud to be part of this.”

Rabindra Pally Durgotsav’s organiser Uttam Saha said that both Kamo and Kromah have exceptionally good voice.

“They are very good singers. The rehearsals have been very good and now sometime next week we will be recording the song. The song is a fusion of African and Bengali music.”
