Chennai: Rookies Monica Sumra and Varsha Raffel of Indian Railways have been picked for the Indian women?s cricket squad to play visiting Australia in a seven-match one-day International series beginning on December 11 in Mysore.
The 14-member squad was picked by the Women?s Cricket Association of India selection committee, chaired by Shantha Rangaswamy and comprising Mithu Mukherji, Archana Mishra and Geeta Gaekwad, a press release by former India captain and secretary of the association, Shubhangi Kulkarni, said on Friday.
Kulkarni said the first two matches in Mysore on December 11 and 13 would be sponsored by IT major Infosys Technologies.
The team is coached by former India captain Sudha Shah.
