Calcutta: The BCCI is likely to impose a life ban on former IPL commissioner Lalit Kumar Modi at a special general meeting, to be held in Chennai, on September 25.

That the Board, at the SGM, is likely to take a call on the disciplinary committee’s report on Modi, also a former BCCI vice-president, was reported by The Telegraph on Monday.

The likely ban on Modi, who has been living in London ever since he was removed by the Board more than three years ago, is not at all a surprising development. In fact, Modi himself wouldn’t be shocked with such a decision.

Though nothing has been made official yet, sources said that the men who matter in the BCCI had an informal discussion on the Modi issue, on the sidelines of the working committee meeting.

The SGM will precede the much-awaited AGM, which is scheduled for September 29.
