Calcutta: Mohammedan Sporting have finally appointed Shankar Maitra as coach of their football team following the departure of Mohammed Habeeb. The appointment was made in consultation with the club’s technical adviser P.K. Banerjee, said secretary Sultan Ahmed on Thursday.

Ahmed also said that the new coach will also be in charge of selecting four players (two from the state and two from outside) for the rest of the season. The selection will be done by the new coach and Banerjee.
