New Delhi: JCT Phagwara, who had disbanded their professional football side in 2011, has decided to revive the team and compete at the national level.
Once a formidable side, JCT had decided to dissolve the team after they were relegated from the I League. The team management also expressed their unhappiness over the AIFF’s club licensing system.
Though the owners are yet to make up their mind on whether they will take part in the second division I league this season, or wait and build up a strong side, they are determined to give a new look to the team. “We have tied up with Arsenal. We hope to get lots of technical support from them. We may also get a good coach from them,” said Punjab Football Association (PFA) president and JCT chairman Sameer Thapar.
