Indians impress

Dhaka: Indian golfers dominated the top half of the leaderboard with the trio of Shubhankar Sharma, S Chikkarangappa and Gaganjeet Bhullar grabbing the tied third spot after Round II of the Bangladesh Open on Thursday. They are two shots behind the leader Thitiphun Chuayprakong of Thailand.

Caddies’ protest

San Francisco: A lawsuit filed by a group of caddies against the US PGA Tour for alleged mistreatment has been thrown out by a US District Court judge. A group that grew to 168 caddies filed the lawsuit last February in San Francisco, claiming they are walking billboards — forced to wear bibs with sponsor logos without any proceeds from sponsor contracts that were estimated at $50 million a year.

Thrilling draw

Pune: Puneri Paltan made a satisfactory start to their campaign at home when they held Patna Pirates 30-30 in an exciting tie of the third Pro Kabaddi League here on Thursday. The result gave three points each to both the teams and the Pirates thus moved to the top with 28 points.

Salgaocar held

Margao: Sporting Clube de Goa rallied from behind in the second half to hold Salgaocar to a 1-1 draw in the I-League at Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Thursday. Salgaocar took the lead in the 27th minute through Darryl Duffy before Marcus Mascarenhas equalised in the 77th minute.

FA Cup

London: Premier League  club West Bromwich Albion won a penalty shootout 4-3 to beat third tier Peterborough United in a dramatic FA Cup fourth-round replay on Wednesday. The game finished 1-1 after extra time.

Punjab SC win

Calcutta: Punjab Sports Club  defeated Police AC 2-0 in a first division BHA League match here on Thursday. Karanbir Singh and Vijay were the scorers. CC&FC rode a lone strike by Sushil Minz to defeat Muslim Institute. WB Police and Howrah Union played out a 1-1 draw.

CAB league
