Jamshed Nassiri on Wednesday was appointed new Mohammedan Sporting coach after the club decided to release Shankar Moitra.
Confirming this, a senior club official said that Moitra was finding it difficult to continue with the job because of his preoccupation with current employers. “P.K. Banerjee (club’s technical adviser) was also taken into confidence about Nassiri’s appointment”, he added.
Nassiri will take charge from Thursday.

The inter-city club sports carnival will be held here from February 27 to 29. As many as 24 clubs, including nine from the city, will participate in the meet. Six games — cricket, bridge, golf, snooker, squash and tennis — will be part of the carnival.
