Vivek Singh, Jayojit Basu and U-19 player Amir Gani may make the cut for the Bengal Vijay Hazare Trophy squad, which will be selected on Sunday. Manoj Tiwary, who was sidelined for six months due to knee injury, is set to make a comeback.
“Vivek, Jayojit and Amir are certainly in the reckoning. You may get to see a few more new faces too,” Bengal chairman of selectors Deep Dasgupta said on Saturday. Bengal, though, will not be able to avail of Mohammed Shami’s services since he’s part of the India Asia Cup squad.
United SC signed Nigerian striker Adekunle Waheed, who used to represent George Telegraph, on Saturday. Waheed comes in as a replacement for Ranty Martins. The club also appointed Subrata Bhattacharya as their technical director, while AFC A-license holder Ananta Kumar Ghosh was named chief coach.
