Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has no doubt that teammate and Egyptian magician Mohamed Salah, fondly called Mo, is the best footballer in the world at this point in time. Salah is in rousing form, scoring goals at will.

He already has 10 against his name in the English Premier League. That includes a stupendous hat-trick against Manchester United at Old Trafford on October 24.

“I think the way he is playing has been incredible. You can just see him walking on the pitch and once he gets the ball, he’s going to score. Mo’s work rate is great.

“The way he helps out Trent (Alexander-Arnold) and the way he helps out his defence behind them... He’s mentally strong and is an incredible player, you know, and I think at this moment is the world’s best and he’ll want to continue that way.

“He’ll want to do it for a whole season like he’s done previously and hopefully can do it again because if he does, it gives us the best chance of scoring and winning trophies,” he said.

Before the international break, Liverpool toyed with Manchester United in the 5-0 victory at Old Trafford which prompted coach Juergen Klopp to say it was a little chapter in terms of the club’s history.

“For me, the only chapter that we had written was, I think, it was our biggest away win against Manchester United. For me, that obviously will go into the record books of Liverpool because it’s our biggest rivalry. It’s good in terms of a statement,” Robertson said.

Australian footballer Josh Cavallo’s decision to come out as gay has got support from the Liverpool duo of Robertson and Jordan Henderson.

According to Robertson, the modern-day dressing room is more inclusive than it used to be a decade ago.

“The locker room is more inclusive now. I think what Josh has done is inspiring. And I hope he felt the love from the footballing family.

A lot of people showed him support and love for what he’s done because, you know, he’s made that brave decision. But we can still do a lot more, allow gay footballers to happily come out and not be worried. I think Josh’s obviously been building this up for a long time,” Robertson said.
