Calcutta: The Eden Gardens is set to have a new two-storied state-of-the-art indoor facility in place of the Pankaj Gupta Indoor training centre.
The new centre, besides having synthetic pitches and a gymnasium, will also have a swimming pool.
The facility will take around a year to be operational and work will begin once the necessary clearance is obtained from the defence authorities. Cricket Association of Bengal’s working committee, after its meeting on Thursday, gave its seal of approval to the project.
It was also decided that Anu Dutta and Biswanath Samanta would be the new assistant secretaries of CAB. Jeet Banerjee, one of the outgoing assistant secretaries, has been co-opted in the working committee.
Four new committees have been formed — Vision 2020, infrastructure, Bengal academy and marketing committees. The newly constituted cricket committee comprises Saradindu Pal (chairman), Sambaran Banerjee, Subrata Banerjee, Laxmi Ratan Shukla and Satrajit Lahiri.
The composition of the senior and junior selection committees were, however, deferred.
