Suryakumar Yadav named T20I cricketer of 2022
Suryakumar Yadav has been named the International Cricket Council’s T20I Cricketer of the Year for 2022.
Surya scored 1164 runs in 31 T20I innings in 2022, with a strike rate of 187.43 and an average of 46.56, including two centuries and nine fifties. This included a sequence of three back-to-back half-centuries against Australia and South Africa.
Overall, he has 1578 runs from 43 T20I innings, since making his debut in March 2021, at a strike rate of 180.34 and average of 46.41, with three centuries and 13 half-centuries.
Surya became just the second batter to make more than 1000 runs in a calendar year and ended as the year’s highest run-getter in the format. He also became the No. 1T20I batter in the world when he went past Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan in early November.
Mohammed Siraj became the world’s No. 1 bowler in the men’s ODI rankings for the first time, replacing Trent Boult after India swept New Zealand 3-0 at home. Siraj took five wickets in two games.
