Everton Weekes, the West Indies legend whose two hundreds in the Calcutta Test of 1948 were among his world record of five consecutive centuries, passed away in Barbados on Wednesday. He was 95.

Weekes, who was the last surviving of the 3Ws, played 48 Tests and scored 4455 runs at an average of 58.61 with 15 centuries.

He passed 1,000 Test runs in 12 innings — one less than Don Bradman.

Alongside Clyde Walcott and Frank Worrell, Weekes formed a formidable West Indies batting unit in the 1950s.

Weekes played his last Test against Pakistan in 1958 — the same series in which Garfield Sobers scored his then world-record 365 not out.
