New Delhi: Diptayan Ghosh was adjudged as the best under-16 player in the 10th Parsvnath International Open Grandmasters Chess tournament at the Ludlow Castle sports complex here on Monday.
The tournament was won by sixth seed Filipino GM Oliver Barbosa, who defeated Indian International Master Shyam Nikil in the eleventh and final round.
The victory enabled Barbosa to take his tally to nine and half points, which helped the GM take the winner’s trophy and pocket a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs. Grandmaster Gomez John Paul of Philippines and Indian IM Lalith Babu were tied for the second spot with nine points but better tie-break score helped the Filipino finish ahead of Babu.
