Calcutta: Shahid Afridi has been banned for four ODIs after being found guilty of breaching the ICC’s Code of Conduct during Pakistan’s one-dayer against South Africa at Centurion.

According to a release, Afridi was charged with a Level 3 offence under section C 2 of the Code which refers to “conduct unbecoming…which could bring (players or officials) or the game of cricket into disrepute.”

The ban means Afridi will miss the last two matches in Pakistan’s current one-day series against South Africa, as well as the showpiece opening match of the World Cup against the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica on March 13 and the game against Ireland in Kingston on March 17.

The charge was laid by ICC Chief Executive Officer Malcolm Speed and relates to an incident which took place after Afridi was dismissed during the first ODI of the ongoing series on February 4.
