Actor Babil Khan has shared a cryptic note about heartbreak and moving on alongside pictures with a mystery girl on Instagram, prompting his mother Sutapa Sikdar to muse on the same feeling in the comment section.

“I don’t think moving on is about trying to hide away what you have loved, in reality you never really move on from the people that you have loved,” wrote Babil on Tuesday.

One of the two pictures shared by Babil is a black-and-white selfie that shows him sharing a moment with the girl, while the other, also a selfie, shows Babil embracing the girl.

Babil also penned a verse that reflects his longing for his past love. “I chipped my tooth falling down the stairs/ I like how you sound when you laugh...I love to look at you/ I’ll miss how you breathe...I’ll miss crossing roads running, wasted at dawn and far from home/ I’ll miss dropping you back when it rains and you carry a small umbrella on purpose,” reads his caption.

The 25-year-old actor mentioned that even though he is missing various aspects of the relationship, his past love is no longer a part of his daily life.“I love to miss you,” he signed off with a fond look at the broken relationship.

Hours after Babil posted his note, Sutapa reacted to the post, reminiscing about her relationship with Babil’s father, the late actor Irrfan Khan. “I remember him carrying my chappal because it’s broken , he walked barefoot too on scorching heat on delhi footpath...the memory pillow should have his memories…I just can’t touch him anymore...but it rains when I miss him. I have the plants he planted with his own hands...I had no option but to stay alone...I don’t know yet what’s called moving on,” she wrote in the comments section of the post.

“This reminds me of our generation song penned by great gulzaar saab from ‘ijazat’ ‘Ek So Solah Chaand ki raaten ek tumhare kaandhe kaa til’..Wah....I don’t know if your generation knows this song on moving on...Check it out,” Sutapa advised her son.

The post also elicited reactions from fans. “Is this a breakup or she is dead?” wondered one social media user, while another reflected, “That little bit of them in us and that little bit of us in them, lives on.”

Later, Babil shared a string of pictures of himself alongside another cryptic note about navigating fame and stardom while remaining true to one’s own self. “But if I’m honest to you, the truth is that I’m just struggling adjusting to fame/ I put in the work and I deal with the pain and I guess someday it’ll pay,” he captioned the post on Instagram.

The carousel contains pictures of him posing in an all-white outfit. Additionally, it features a quote by Italian filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini. “I love life fiercely...even desperately...I believe that this ferocity and this desperation will only lead to my destruction,” reads the quote.

On the work front, Babil received plaudits from critics for his performance in his acting debut in Qala in 2022. He has also starred in the Netflix miniseries The Railway Men alongside R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon and Divyenndu.
