Bhubaneswar, May 17: Brace yourself to celebrate style at the Blenders Pride Magical Nights that is coming to town this weekend.
Sashaying down the runway will be none other than Bollywood actress Yami Gautam.
The multi-city fashion tour this year will begin at Bhubaneswar on Sunday, in which high-profile designers Agnimitra Paul and duo of Pankaj-Nidhi will showcase their creations.
Agnimitra, who started her fashion career in 2001, is known for her versatility and sharp sense of detailing. Her ensemble strikes a fine balance between opulence and simplicity, which is a perfect tribute to the contemporary Indian woman. She has designed several outfits for veteran Bollywood actress Sridevi.
Pankaj and Nidhi, who launched their label seven years ago, have a distinct style sense. Their costumes are edgy, depicting a brilliant fusion between western and Indian aesthetics.
But, fashionistas here are waiting to catch a glimpse of Yami — who made her Bollywood debut with Vicky Donor last year.
“Yami Gautam is very beautiful and a great actress. I am a fan of her fashion sense. She can carry Indian as well as western clothes pretty well,” said Shikha Sahoo, a college student.
The showstopper for the Bhubaneswar tour last year was Neha Dhupia.
After its first leg here, the fashion tour would travel to Lucknow and Nagpur before culminating in Patna on June 7. Yami would be showstopper for the Nagpur show while Gauhar Khan would scorch the ramp at the other two locations.
General manager (marketing) of Pernod Ricard-India Raja Banerji said the event was being organised in smaller cities, as there are “markets with great potential”. “The objective of this tour is to get closer to the consumers,” he said.
Designers Rocky S, Falguni and Shane Peacock, and Ranna Gill are also part of the Magical Nights team, but they will display their craftsmanship in the other cities.
