Bhubaneswar, April 8: The capital education fair has been seeing an encouraging crowd since it’s opening on March 31. With as many as 65 stalls for students from kindergarten to post graduation, the fair, now in its sixth year, has been able to strike the right cords with the denizens.
“The exams are just over and this it the time students get confused over what choice to make. Also, with hundreds of institutions lining up, parents too are spoilt for choice. There are several cases when students fall prey to fake institutions. This is where a fair like this helps,” said president of the organising committee Sudipta Ray.
Organised by the Centre for Event Development and Architecture, the fair offers everything for the students and their guardians. Stalls offering courses in management, Plus Two science, schools, computers, IT, animation and fashion technology have been attracting a lot of crowd. “We have about 1,000 visitors everyday. The numbers go up to 3,000 on Saturdays and Sundays,” said secretary Ajay Rout.
The fair also has stalls for books related to various subjects to attract students. Besides Bhubaneswar, visitors from Cuttack and Puri have also been coming to the fair. The event has also been drawing a good number of teachers, said the organisers. Special attractions such as quiz, essays, paintings and cultural programmes have been lined up to attract more crowd.
The fair has an additional Orissa mega expo fair running alongside. This expo, with 110 stalls, is being held to promote the idea of entrepreneurship among students. There is everything from SHGs and handicrafts to appliances, hardware and real estate products at the expo fair.
“The fair is really very informative and interesting for students like us. It’s good to have someone clarify your doubts. I was confused whether to go for an MBA or MCA but I think I have got some direction after this,” said Kriti Jain, a visitor.
