Bhubaneswar, Aug. 22: Another super specialty hospital would soon be added to the list of health-care delivery institutions in the state capital by April next year.
A Rs 120-crore multi-disciplinary facility, which would have a total of 300 beds is set to come up over an area of five acres.
At the new hospital, specialty units including cardiology, neurology, orthopaedics, critical care, gynaecology, obstetrics, paediatrics and neonatalogy would be available.
“The upcoming hospital near Satyasai Enclave of Khandagiri, is the first hospital project of the Amri Group outside Bengal. Amri Hospitals Limited is a joint venture of Emami and Shrachi Groups. With the completion of this project in the state and another one in Burdwan, our group will have a total bed strength of 1,400,’’ said vice-president J.P. Singh Deo.
Speaking to mediapersons, Deo said: “Apart from the health-care delivery business the group is also developed itself into an academic body with teaching activities like Diplomat in National Board (DNB) courses for doctors, post-doctoral fellowships in critical care, minimal invasive surgery, nursing courses and M. Pharma.’’
Head of the cardiology surgery department of the Amri Group Dr K.M. Mandana said: “With safe heart surgeries, people are now getting treated and operated upon just like any other common surgeries. Moreover, we are conducting research collaboration with scientists of IIT Kharagpur on various aspects of safety standards at our hospital.’’
“Currently, Amri has the only V-MAT (Volumetric Modulator Arc Therapy) machine in eastern India at Calcutta and we will also include many technologically-advanced equipment at the Bhubaneswar hospital.
V-MAT has the capacity to treat cancer patients with accurate radiological dose so that the healthy tissues of the patients are not affected, but the diseased ones receive the maximum dose,” said oncologist Dr Kalyan Bhattacharya.
According to executive director of the group Dr D.N. Agarwal, “Along with the hospital, a nursing college is also being planned to be set up in order to provide education to young and aspirant youths from various corners of the state.”
“With this hospital, people from the state will no longer need to travel down south for specialty care,” said the executive director.
Currently, a large number of patients from the state travel to several hospitals in southern India in order to avail of better healthcare facilities.
