
Bhubaneswar: Around 40,000 students from the state appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Neet) examination on Sunday.
The examination was held at 40 centres across Odisha. It began at 10am and concluded at 1pm.
The CBSE had issued strict guidelines and dos and don'ts for those appearing for the test.
Rigorous checking was done at the examination centres along with ensuring that the candidates adhered to the dress code.
According to the CBSE's instructions, the candidates had to enter the examination centres half-an-hour before the commencement of the test.
The CBSE has asked the students to only carry admit cards and avoid taking any stationery items such as textual material, electronic gadgets, pen, scale, writing pad or pen.
The dress code mandated that the candidates had to wear half-sleeved light-coloured clothes without big buttons, brooch/badge or flowers along with salwarrouser. The candidates were only allowed inside the exam centres in slippers and low-heeled sandals. Shoes were not allowed.
Sacred threads or bands that students wore on their wrists were removed before being allowed in the examination hall. The female candidates have to leave their earrings and other jewellery behind.
Parents and students was seen waiting on the road outside the examination centres because they had nowhere to wait and were not allowed to enter the centres before the stipulated time.
"There are so much restrictions that it got confusing. The scrutinisers had so many issues and it took a lot of time to address those," said Subal Dehury, father of an Neet candidate.
The results of the entrance test are scheduled to be declared on June 5.
Around 13,26,000 registered students appeared the medical entrance that was conducted in Hindi, English, Urdu, Gujarati, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.
