The Lopar-induced rain continued to inundate several areas of Bhubaneswar also on Sunday. People were seen making their way through knee-deep water in front of the Assembly, the police headquarters, and places such as Acharya Vihar, Jayadev Vihar and Bomikhal.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation failed to tackle the situation even after deploying its full staff strength of around 300 people on Sunday. The BMC also put into action 10 pumpsets to pump out rainwater from various areas of the city. The civic body's control room received 36 distress calls with complaints of waterlogging on Sunday.
