Bhubaneswar, Jan. 8: Senior Trinamul Congress leaders, including Bengal education minister Partha Chatterjee and party MP and national general secretary, Subrata Bakshi, today said the BJP was indulging in politics of vendetta as Mamata Banerjee had opposed Narendra Modi's demonetisation decision.
The two leaders were here to call on party MPs Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Tapas Paul, both of whom have been arrested for their alleged role in Rose Valley deposit collection scam.
Both Chatterjee and Bakshi went to the CBI office here and met Bandyopadhyay. Later they visited Jharapada jail to meet Paul.
"The Centre is playing vendetta politics against our MPs and our party. But our party will not succumb to the dirty politics of the BJP. We will stage a demonstration in Bhubaneswar to expose the BJP," said Chatterjee at Bhubaneswar airport as they were on the way to the CBI office.
The two leaders also took stock of the preparation for the protest demonstration to be organised here against the arrest of two of its MPs at PMG Square near the Assembly on Tuesday.
Police said that they were expecting a turnout of 1,000 demonstrators during Tuesday's protest. "Adequate police personnel will be deployed at the place and Bhubaneswar railway station to maintain law and order," said deputy commissioner of police Satyabrata Bhoi.
Convenor of the Trinamul Congress state unit Arya Kumar Gyanendra said the arrest of Sudip and Paul was politically motivated.
"Both the MPs were arrested since our party opposed the demonetisation move. We will continue our protests against the Centre," he said.
