Sarangi has requested the public to use the website for sharing information on traffic, law and order, corruption, crime and such issues, which they generally do not want to share disclosing their identity.
The website is expected to help many as only a few people visit police station to register their complaints.
"The Berhampur police district was carved out from erstwhile Ganjam in 1984. Now, the people can communicate to the police freely and directly without any hesitation. We are trying to make Berhampur police more responsive, people-friendly and accountable through this website," said Thakur.
"This is not an official website, and the domain name is registered privately," said Sarangi.
"Software engineer Uma Shankar Panda, who is working with Infosys, has developed the site, and one Jashraj Siddharth Das is maintaining it in their private capacities with my permission," Sarangi said.
