Railway official flags off cycle expedition
Bhubaneswar: General manager, East Coast Railway, Arvind Kumar Vohra, flagged off the Trans-India cycle expedition of the Railway Engineering Territorial Army at the ECoR headquarters here on Wednesday. he expedition started on January 8 from Kharagpur and will go up to Visakhapatnam covering some parts of Bengal, Orissa and northern Andhra Pradesh in the second phase of the expedition. Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Wednesday granted interim protection against arrest for 10 days to Congress legislator from Dabugaon, Bhujabal Majhi, to present himself before the local court and file a regular bail petition. he MLA was arrested for allegedly beating up the Koshaguda block development officer. The single-judge bench of Justice Indrajeet Mohanty also directed the additional sessions judge concerned to consider his bail plea. Bhubaneswar: A raid conducted at Balianta public health centre in Angul led to the seizure of several packets of medicines that had crossed their expiry dates. Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday trapped one linesman under the Nesco division at Balasore here while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500 for electricity connection. he linesman, identified as Brundaban Mohanty working in JE section-3, was taking the bribe from one Ashish Kumar Das when he was caught red-handed. Bhubaneswar: The Khurda government railway police has nabbed six persons involved in looting sugar from goods trains. The hoodlums had been breaking open the sugar-laden bogies on a regular basis to sell the sugar in the open market. All the six have been forwarded to court. Bhubaneswar: An awareness programme against spurious liquor and its ill effects was held through street plays at Bargarh. It was organised by the Bharat Vikash Sanstha and sponsored by the district excise department. More than 21 street plays were held at different villages in the district. Bhubaneswar: Mother Express, an exhibition on wheels by the Indian Railways, showcases the life and philanthropic deeds of Mother Teresa on the occasion of her birth centenary. The mobile exhibition will chug into Koraput on January 21, Brahmapur on January 23, Mancheswar in Bhubaneswar on 24 and 25 and Sambalpur on January 28. The exhibition will open at 10 am and will continue till 6pm.
