Rayagada: The CPI (Maoist) has accused a tribal sarpanch from the primitive Dongria Kondh community and one of his family members in the district of working as agents of Vedanta Aluminium Limited and trying to suppress the anti-mining movement in the area by misleading other members of the tribal community.

Maoist leader Umakant of the party's Basadhara-Ghumusar and Nagabali divisional committee sent letters to newspersons on Wednesday where he has alleged that Drinjo Jakosika, sarpanch of Kurli panchayat in Bissamkatak block, and his relative Jitu Jakosika were trying to weaken the anti-mining movement at Niyamgiri by luring the tribal community members with money and false job promises.
