Bhubaneswar, March 29: After blockbuster Chocolate, director Sushant Mani is back with Babushan in suspense thriller Luchakali Catch me if you can. The movie releases tomorrow.

Luchakali, or hide-and-seek, tells the love story of sand artist Tanmay Mishra (Babushan) and bookseller Monalisa (Shreya Jha).

The happy times soon come to an end when Mona’s family objects to their marriage. Mona is forcefully married to another man, played by Samaresh, and from here the story takes a new turn.

“This is the first time that I am trying my luck with a plot that is different from ones in the romantic movies we see so often. Though the film has romance and subtle comedy, it’s the suspense that will keep the audience glued to their seats,” said director Sushant Mani.

It is the villain Samaresh who is the backbone of the film. Samaresh plays the role of a psycho-killer who takes pleasure in torturing his wife. The director promises to divulge on Friday a suspenseful, nail-biting end.

Sushant, known for his presentation and treatment of a story, has tried to excel in technical aspects as well. The entire film has been shot with a high-resolution camera —Arri Alexa.

“The entire unit has taken care of the nitty-gritty details in the film. We had a long discussion about the shots and how they were to be edited before every shot. This is a very new technique that Sushant has introduced in Odia films,” said editor Birenjyoti Mohanty.

The film also sees a special appearance from Megha Ghose. She will be seen in item number Ye deha barabhare.

Anbu Selvan’s music is already topping the music charts, especially Gumsum gumsum akhi tora.

“All the songs that you see in the film are situational and take the movie forward. Even the item number is a very important part of the film. Anbu is one of the chief guitarists for composer A.R. Rehman and needless to say, his compositions are one of the biggest assets of the film,” said Sushant.

The film is shot at various locations of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Dhenkanal. Veteran actor Bijay Mohanty will also be seen in it.

“Shooting with Babushan and Sushant was great fun. They look innocent but in reality both of them are big pranksters. Since this is my third film, I was quite comfortable with the language and the entire team has been very co-operative. I love the romantic number Indradhanu ku tani ani, which we shot on a bike. The sad song Gumsum gumsum akhi tora is touching too,” said actress Shreya.
