Bhubaneswar, Nov. 11: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) will upload the sample paper of new pattern questions for the matriculation examination on its official website from October 12.
From next year, the question papers will be different.
The state government in October had announced introduction of grades in place of marks in the matriculation examination 2014, in a move to reduce stress level and unhealthy competition among students.
Uploading of the new pattern question papers will be done to facilitate students who are confused and worried about the new changes in the evaluation pattern, said BSE president D.P. Nanda.
Sample question-cum-answer booklets of six subjects including English, Hindi, Sanskrit, mathematics, science, Odia and social studies will be uploaded.
“This is being done to clear the doubts of students regarding the new question pattern. The students can check the website and have a fair knowledge of how to go about it. I think there will be no confusion now,” Nanda said.
The samples of the optical mark recognition sheets wold be available on the website, he added.
This apart the state government is conducting a meeting of all district officers to impart training on the nitty-gritty of the new format.
“They will be trained how to fill the optical mark recognition sheets and the other papers as well. They will be handed over sample hardcopy of all the subjects and will be directed to make students practice the papers on their own,” Nanda said.
“The new question pattern is student-friendly and has equal numbers of objective and subjective questions . This will acquaint the students to prepare for various national-level competitive exams,” he said.
The state government in October announced to replace marks with grade system in Class X examination.
Students will now be evaluated on nine-point grades like A (91-100 marks), B (81-90), C (71-80), D (61-70), E (51-60), F (41-50), G (33-40), H (21-32) and I (below 20) Students, who secure more than 90 per cent marks, will be categorised ‘outstanding’, those securing between 81-90 per cent ‘excellent’ and those secured less than 20 per cent will get the tag ‘unsatisfactory’ instead of ‘fail’.
A student will be required to attempt 50 objective questions on optical mark recognition sheets in an hour. The duration to answer subjective questions worth 50 marks will be 90 minutes.
