Cuttack, Feb. 7: Police will shortly go for a polygraph test on the gangster siblings Sushant and Sushil Dhal Samant to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of their close associate Dipu Mallick in 2013.

The test assumes significance as the cops want to find the "missing links" right from the day of the disappearance of Dipu in 2013 and the subsequent chain of events.

Chauliaganj police on January 18 registered a murder case following a court direction based on the complaint of Adwaita Mallick who alleged that his son Dipu had been murdered by the Dhal Samant brothers.

Police commissioner Y.B. Khurania told The Telegraph that both the Dhal Samant brothers would be produced before the court as their seven-day remand period would end on Monday. "We want to go for a polygraph test on the duo to get more evidence," he said.

A lot of prima facie evidence regarding the Dipu missing case have already been collected based on the statements of few witnesses, including the Dipu's father Adwaita.

Passport-size photographs of Dipu were also recovered from the Visakhapatnam hideout of Sushant. A single barrel rifle, 54 rounds of live bullets, a diary, a hard disc, few pen drives and other documents were also seized from the Vizag house.

Police sources said that Sushant, who ran away from Cuttack in 2004, was operating from Visakhapatnam for the last five years.

The role of a fake document racket has also come under the cops' lens after a number of fake identity proofs were seized from the hideouts of the duo.

The police suspect that Sushant was in touch with some people in Odisha, who helped him to acquire various identity proofs such as PAN card and other documents.

Earlier, a special team of police had seized an Andhra Pradesh driving licence of Sushant in the name of one Manoj Patnaik from following his arrest from Bhubaneswar on January 28.
