Groups formed for Vision 2030

The state government today constituted seven groups to develop the road map for Niti Ayog's Vision 2030 document.

Bhubaneswar, June 22: The state government today constituted seven groups to develop the road map for Niti Ayog's Vision 2030 document.

Experts from private sector, civil society, academicians and technical experts will be involved in the process.

Chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said that the groups would submit their suggestions within two months to the state government for its consideration before they are sent to Niti Ayog.

With the constitution of the working groups and conduct of a preparatory meeting presided over by the chief secretary, the process for formulation of Vision 2030 for Odisha has been set in motion. The vision document will be formulated in line with sustainable development goals (SDG) set by United Nations and guidelines of NITI Ayog.

Padhi had advised the officials to cluster the similar goals and constitute subject specific groups to set the vision in each targeted area.

It was decided in the meeting that a credible professional agency having Odisha experience would be picked up as the technical partner for the purpose.

Vision Document 2030 would be formulated keeping the SDGs in view.

Another seven-year strategy for the period from 2017-18 to 2023-24 would be formulated to convert the longer visions into policies that could be implemented.

The third document would be three-year action plan for the period from 2017-18 to 2019-20.

Development commissioner R. Balakrishnan suggested to align Vision 2030 with the State Vision Document 2036 that Odisha on its own has initiated keeping in view completion of the 100th year of formation of the state.

The planning and convergence department will be the nodal body for this exercise.

Sustainable development goals cells will be set up in each department by first week of July.

The focus areas will be poverty alleviation, sustainable production and consumption, health and well being, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable clean energy, reduced inequalities and social peace and justice.

Besides, development of partnerships, climate change action, life below water and on the surface, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation, infrastructure, sustainable cities and communities were identified to be included in the document.
