Bhubaneswar: Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon landed in a controversy after she allegedly recorded a video of herself on the mobile phone inside the Lingaraj Temple in the city on Sunday despite mobile phones and videos being strictly prohibited on the temple premises.
The temple administration has ordered for an inquiry into the incident following complaints from the priests.
"The matter has come to our notice. We had not given the permission to shoot the video on the temple premises. Mobile phones are only allowed for servitors of the temple and there is strict ban on carrying phones by devotees to the temple. We will conduct an inquiry to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident," said executive officer of the Lingaraj temple, Rajib Lochan Parida.
"We got to know that during her visit to the temple actor Tandon's friend has recorded a video of the actor on the mobile phone sitting in front of the Parvati temple," Parida said.
He further said during the visit of any state guest the government informed the Lingaraj temple administration about it, but Tandon was not a state guest.
"She has not taken any permission to carry the mobile phone or camera on the temple premises. Several rounds of security checking are done before entering the temple. We will enquire how they can managed to take the mobile phone inside," said Parida.
Action will be initiated according to the law against whoever is found guilty, he said.
Tandon was in the city to attend a private event. A senior official in ASI said that the matter will be dealt seriously. The temple comes under the purview of ASI.
"We will take up the matter with the temple administration and take necessary action," said the official.
