Teachers’ Day
Enthusiasm and festivity marked the Teachers’ Day celebrations across all city schools. Campuses were gripped with fervour as students put their best foot forward to pay tributes to their teachers and the great visionary Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Students organised series of events at all the DAV group of schools (Chandrashekharpur, Pokhriput and Unit VIII), Loyola School, Mother’s Public School and the OM Public School Teachers were felicitated by the school managements and students presented scintillating cultural performances to mark the occasion.

World Brotherhood Day
The DAV Public School, Chandrashekharpur, on Thursday organised the World Brotherhood Day to celebrate the spirit of peace, love and harmony amongst the culturally diversified Indians across the globe. The students representing various religions conveyed the message that India is a land of unity in diversity and need to be together irrespective of their caste, culture or religion. More than a century ago, on the same day, Swami Vivekananda preached the essence of universal brotherhood to the world from America, by delivering a model speech at the Parliament of World’s Religions held in Chicago. Since then, the day is celebrated as World Brotherhood Day as a mark of respect to that speech.
Health camp
Keeping in mind the importance of good health, St Xavier’s High School, Satyanagar, in collaboration with AMRI hospital conducted a three-day health camp for the kindergarten section. A team of qualified doctors visited the school and performed a free health check-up of the students, related to their BMI, normal health parameters and dentition. The hospital administration also conducted a hand wash programme, where the techniques and significance of washing the hands correctly was demonstrated and highlighted. The event was a huge success. The tiny tots were thrilled to not only interact with the doctors, but also learn the correct way of washing their hands.
Celebrations
Tiny tots of the DAV Public School, Chandrashekharpur, took part in a number of cultural events to mark the festival of Nuakhai with gaiety and much fanfare Dressed in traditional attires, the kids danced and sang to the popular western Odisha songs to mark the harvest festival with much enthusiasm. The students also exchanged greetings — Nuakhai Juhar —with friend relative and well-wishers, which is a major ritual of the festival.
