Local singers perform on the occasion of World Music Day at Bhanja Kala Mandap in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

Odissi music grabbed spotlight among cultural enthusiasts and artistes on the occasion. Music directors and singers from the state came together at the daylong programme to discuss the changing paradigms of music.

A number of veteran people from the musical field such as Prafulla Kar, Chitta Ranjan Mishra, A Maheswar Rao, Guru Dhaneswar Swain, Sangita Gosain and Bijay Jena interacted with young artistes during the morning hours.

The spirit of music was further evoked at a confluence of various forms of Odissi music, including the tribal, folk, classical and the semi-classical ones, at the musical concert in the evening. The Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi hosted the event. A number of concerts, singing competitions and seminars were also hosted by a number of cultural organisations.
