I received a call from our Mumbai head office around 9.30pm on November 8 not to attend any call from any security officials to repair the ATMs located in my jurisdiction. Our job is to collect cash from the banks and stock them in ATMs.

It took me by surprise. My company, a cash replacement agency, is very particular that all the ATM kiosks under us remain functional.

I had no idea till then that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already announced scrapping of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. Following the pho-ne call from Mumbai, I received a number of messages and calls from of my colleaguesThough I have been in the money circulation profession for the past five years, There was total confusion. There were calls from the business houses to collect the cash from them.We have to take care of each ATM. Sometimes, when we reach an ATM, there is no electricity and there is no backup to provide uninterrupted power supply.

The crisis will continue for three to four more days. and we are aware that the expectations from the customers are high.
