Jajpur, March 25: At least six persons, including three women, were killed when an SUV in which they were travelling overturned near Neulpur Chhak on the NH-5, around 80km from here.

Two persons suffered injury in the accident that took place yesterday around 3pm.

Local residents rescued the passengers from the vehicle with the help of fire brigade personnel.#

The deceased have been identified as Pralaya Saha, 43, Amit Choudhury, 48, his wife Subhra Choudhury, 41, Emli Das, 40, her daughter Srija Das, 8, and Samir Dutta, 48. The injured are Sajal Das, 42, and Adrija Saha, 12. All of them are natives of Calcutta.

While three persons, including Srija, died on the spot, three others succumbed to their injuries at the Community Healthcare Centre at Barachana.

Two injured passengers have been shifted to SCB as their condition turned critical, said the police.

"We handed over all the bodies to the relatives of the deceased after conducting post-mortem today," said Dharmasala police station inspector-in-charge Amitav Mohapatra.
