Guwahati, Aug. 21: Defending champions Assam State Electricity Board SC registered their fourth straight win in the ongoing RG Baruah Trophy Super Division Football League with a convincing 3-0 victory over Sports Authority of India SC in today’s match at Nehru Stadium here.

After a barren first half, the powermen gained command over the match with a thrilling 61st minute goal by P. Chawrok who headed in a flag kick by Nitu Narzary.

Trailing by the goal, the SAI boys put their best foot forward trying to find an equaliser.

Their strategy however, backfired as the powermen took the advantage of the relatively weakened defence of the SAI team to pump in two more goals within a span of two minutes.

Priya Kumar Singh, who earlier squandered a couple of chances, found the net for the second goal converting a pass from substitute Abuan Gonmei in the 80th minute.

Just two minutes later, Sibra Narzari ruffled the net again by pushing in a centre by Bijoy Das.

After conceding three goals, the SAI boys could hardly come back into the match as the powermen maintained the pressure, making repeated forays into their castle.

In the first half, the match was an evenly poised affair. However, the powermen dominated the field more and made several forays into the SAI territory.

However, the latter’s defence held its ground and ably tackled the powermen’s moves.

The first half ended goalless.

Maharana Athletic Club will play Dynamo Club tomorrow.
