Ranke D. Sangma, alias Nigam, had joined the GNLA in 2014. He escaped from the outfit's training camp at Mandalgre in East Garo Hills. He told the police that he was undergoing training under the command of Baichung - one of the top GNLA "commanders", listed as "most wanted" by the police.

Since Monday, five GNLA cadres and one of the A'chik Matgrik Elite Force have surrendered before the police at Resubelpara.
Superintendent of police, North Garo Hills, Ramesh Singh, said on completion of all formalities the surrendered GNLA cadres would be sent for rehabilitation.
