Mizoram festival

In an effort to promote tourism and revive and preserve the Mizo tradition, the state government will celebrate Pawl Kut, one of the major festivals of Mizoram, on a grand scale for the first time from November 25 to 29. The four-day festival will be kicked-off with a colourful cultural fashion show at the AR Ground in Aizawl. Food fests will be held at tourist lodge, Chaltlang, and tourist complex, Berawthlang, throughout the festival. Exhibitions will be held on art and culture, industries, horticulture, agriculture and tourism. The fourth day will have traditional games and a daylong music festival.

Blood grouping camp

A free blood grouping camp is being organised by Leo Club of Gauhati Greater in association with Lions and Lioness clubs of Gauhati Greater at the income tax office, Kalpataru, Panbazar, on September 20 from 11 am.

Essay contest

Rotary Club of Sivasagar will organise an essay contest among school and college students on “our endangered earth”. Entries must be in English and not exceeding 700 words. Last date for submission of entries is October 20.

Seminar

The Institution of Engineers (India), Assam State Centre, will organise a national-level seminar on September 28 on “development of inland water transport in eastern India with reference to the Northeast”.

Photography contest

The director of tourism, Meghalaya, has extended the last date for receipt of entries for photography and slogan competitions (professional and amateur) till 4 pm on September 16.
