theatre in town:
9 Jakhoo Hill - a play written by columnist Gurcharan Das and directed by Giyasuddin Ahmed, will be staged by the theatre group Shikhar at Rabindra Bhawan in Guwahati on April 10 and 11. The play is set in Shimla during Diwali 1962. The political turmoil and disillusionment of the outside world, India's demoralising war with China, the gradual decline of Nehruvian ideals and optimism is echoed in the sitting room of 9 Jakhoo Hill. The cast includes Deba Choudhury, Hiranmoy Dutta, Tondra Barbora, Utpala Choudhury, Ranjeev Lal Barua and Mrinmoyee Sarma. Passes are available at the venue.
Kathak workshop:
