Teams to check city hospitals

Guwahati, July 15: Kamrup (metro) deputy commissioner M. Angamuthu has constituted four teams, each headed by an additional deputy commissioner, to inspect nursing homes and private hospitals in the city to examine patient security and adherence to norms.

The four teams, led by additional deputy commissioner Khitish Chandra Pegu, Nabadeep Pathak, Gunajit Kashyap and Palash Pratim Bora, comprise officials of health and family welfare, food safety, fire and emergency services and drug inspectors.

The teams will check different aspects like pollution control measures, garbage disposal system, standard of food, fire control, safety of radiation-emitting machinery, safety measures in intensive care units, availability of ramps and adequate medicines.

The inspection started today in three hospitals and will continue till July 21.
